Good Microwave Missing Some Key Features

The microwave looks nice, sleek and I like it doesn't have a handle. It also seems to heat dished fairly well. For me the two biggest disappointments are the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity and the fact that the front panel doesn't light up. Since this is install under a counter, you really have to bend down to see what you are pressing. Very inconvenient. I would have expected a fully lit control panel, once you hit the first button or when you open the drawer.

Microwave functions as described but issue lies with the visibility of the operation controls. Being a drawer style microwave, the control panel sits just below counter depth and below the waist. As the design doesn™™t include a backlit panel, the controls are difficult to see without bending down, squatting, and squinting.

The old draw microwave died years ago and I was using a small unit, sitting on the counter for the past 5 yrs. Didn™™t want to spend the money. But my goodness, got this new monogram microwave and absolutely love it. So very easy to operate, nice looking and quieter than you can imagine. If you have been waiting to up grade, think you will be as happy as I am.

When we renovated our kitchen we wanted to install a microwave in the island and that lead us to the Monogram microwave. The microwave has a lot of features that we did not have with our old under cabinet microwave. The one thing that I wish was different is the fact that you need to bend down to see the buttons on the control panel. It is hard to see them unless you are at almost eye level with them.

We purchased this to complete our kitchen remodel and have all GE monogram appliances. (New oven, Stove top, and dishwasher). Unfortunately, this produce does NOT live up to monogram status. There is no back light to see the display so I have to turn on the kitchen lights to see which button to push for the correct function. Along with the fact that there is no quick reference on which function and sub function to use, we have to keep the manual handy for reference. I do NOT recommend this appliance. I wish we would have kept our 20 year old Sharp drawer micorwave. It didn't look as nice, but was certainly much more functional.

I've had this microwave since the beginning on June 2025. I've used it a handful of times. The open/close function is smooth and the microwave express cook settings have been handy. At the end of the time, it's a microwave and it works.

Great microwave but essential features missing

This was our first foray into a drawer microwave. It cooks well, is easy to use, and looks great in our kitchen. However, key features were overlooked in the design process. Three key features that need to be added: 1. Light up/backlit keys that are activated by touch 2. The microwave buttons should be touch-activated only. When leaning over the counter, the buttons activate when being bumped into and will start a function on its own. 3. If a function isn™™t started, the microwave should automatically reset back to the time on the display. When a button is bumped by a pant leg, etc., the display scrolls ™push start when ready™ but doesn™™t end the cycle until the ™reset™ button is pressed. After a set time of inactivity, it should reset on its own. Might this be solved with a simple firmware update? This particular unit had an intermittent malfunction that would spark in the back left corner when running. The unit was replaced under warranty.

Why in the world are we paying this much for a microwave that doesn™™t have a backlit panel? It™™s almost 2024. Easy and obvious thing to consider GE. I am a designer and was excited to get this for personal use, but I will not recommend to my clients. It is impossible to read the control functions without having to crouch down. What™™s the use of the functionality of an under-counter drawer if you still have to crouch? Also, I have to push the drawer in tightly or it won™™t work. The automatic drawer slider doesn™™t click all the way automatically. Kind of disappointed.

This drawer microwave is meant to be under the counter or in the island. The programming is written above the drawer at the top and is very difficult to view or read with its location. This microwave OS not as much wattage as my long- standing countertop model this is replacing because of a kitchen remodel.

It™™s nice to look at. Open close button motor broken first time using. Had to call a technician. 3 weeks for part to come in. Takes longer to defrost meat compared to my cheaper whirpool. I™™m not impressed sorry to say. Over priced.

We love the monogram drawer microwave. The kids really enjoyed it being lower in the kitchen and we like that it™™s in the cabinet. Let me tall the necessary functions. We require with the microwave and allows us to use upper cabinet space for display indoor storage.

Over the past 15 years we have had 2 microwaves with auto buttons that worked great. We remodeled the kitchen and got this microwave and have discovered that the auto program buttons aren™™t engineered/calibrated very well. The technician from GE came out and told us that we should be adjusting the power levels EVERY time we set the auto program buttons to run. That seems crazy to me and counterintuitive to how the buttons are supposed to work, and how I know them to work on other microwaves I™™ve had. I looked in the manual and didn™™t see anything that matched his description of how we were supposed to adjust the power levels each time we use the auto program buttons (melt/soften.) I just spoke with a rep at GE and their answer is that I should watch the items in the microwave carefully. When I explained that the ™soften butter™ feature runs for 3:30 min and basically boils the butter, she insisted that I just need to watch it and no program is perfect. So I cannot recommend this appliance in any way and the GE experts think it™™s all just fine.

We purchased a different high quality brand and had a terrible experience. Learned most of the base units are manufactured by the same company due to copyright laws. Our first purchase required a refund. We decided on this Monogram model as it is the same basic box and rough opening size. The controls are still a bit difficult to read as they are smoke colored font on black at waist level. The designers of these should really think about illuminating or backlighting the touch pads. Other than that, works great.

Lasted 30 days; repair lasted 5; GE won't replace

I strongly caution against buying this unit. We paid a lot of money through Appliance Factory in Parker, CO for this. We waited six months for it to be delivered. 30 days later it would not do anything (days before thanksgiving). We asked for a new unit but were told we must wait for them to attempt to repair the unit at least three times. After waiting another month for repair parts, the repairs lasted 5 days before it once again became completely non-functional (right before Christmas). We again asked for a new unit or a refund. Both the retailer and GE insist they have to attempt to repair it multiple additional times before they will consider replacing it. Meanwhile, we have a massive hole in our wallet but don't have a functioning microwave. We don't want a replacement, we want our money back. We have spent a lot of money for a microwave that has been completely useless more days than it has functioned and has left us without a microwave before the two biggest food holidays of the year. The customer service representatives have been very polite but lack the authority to make this right. GE sent us a small check to buy a cheap microwave, but we didn't want to spend a massive amount of money for a cheap microwave that works and an expensive one that doesn't. We have absolutely no confidence that the repairs will work or that this unit will function. I doubt very much I will ever purchase anything from GE again. I understand the unit itself is not manufactured by GE or Monogram, but this level of performance is unbelievably poor.
